 The follow-up to "Mandingo" (both movies were based on novels by Kyle Onstott and star Ken Norton)
Drum is a young boy who, unbeknownst to him, was born of a black father and a white mother (Marianna, played by Isela Vega). The mother becomes the madam of a brothel and has Drum raised by a black woman posing as his birth mother. He grows up to be an enormously strong but very gentle person. After being forced into a fight with a slave named Blaise (Yaphet Kotto who is excellent) by a gay slave trader, Drum is sent away to be the butler to slave breeder Hammond Maxwell (well portrayed by Warren Oates). It is here that most of the movie takes place, as Oates attempts to get to know his ex-prostitute but now prim-and-proper new wife (played by Fiona Richmond) and deals with his naughty blond daughter (played by a very young looking Rainbeaux Smith) who spends most of her time prick-teasing the male slaves! With an unfortunately short appearance by Pam Grier. |
